- Ummm,
-
- I am somewhat new to newsgroups and posted a note for help yesterday or the
- day before, but didn't get a response, and I don't see it there...
-
- I read an answer to someone else about the same question, and found my answer,
- I think...
-
- I have another question tho...
-
- I have programmed in Pascal (1983) and don't remember it, BASIC (1982,1992),
- COBOL 1990-94, Assembler, SQL (if you can call that a language), RPG II &
- III, PL/1, and several others... I have used JCL, MVS, DOS 3.3-7, Win3.0 - 95
- and NT 4 beta... I have programmed on mainframes, minis and PCs...
-
- I don't remember half the code I wrote, but I do know that I always loved
- Assembler for it's purity, and C for it's direct simplicity (although I never
- coded all that much in C) I have a diploma from a 2 years course (some people
- don't know that a diploma automatically means a 2 year course, at least here,
- in Canada, it does) as a CAP, ie. Computer Analyst/Programmer.
-
- I am learning C++ with Visual C++ 2.0 (because I got a free copy :) and so far
- am loving it! I am reading the book Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days by Jesse
- Liberty and I plan on reading Teach Yourself Windows 95 Programming in 21
- Days by the same publishers...
-
- I would like to know, firstly, if anyone can tell me, why my first message is
- no longer visible to me, and secondly,
-
- Which language is the best all around!?!? I know that's a one-sided question
- and obviously quite subject to bias, (especially in this group ;) but I have
- heard so many different stories from so many different people, and I happen to
- love C++ in the first place, for too many reasons to list here, so I want some
- opinions... Marketability is great, from what I hear, portability is easy, if the
- code is written properly, it is efficient, simple enough to learn (for an
- experienced coder), and ... Are these right? Is that all?
-
- I want to increase my marketability and am obviously doing that by studying
- C++, but is it THE language to learn above all else???
-
- Thanks and I hope to be of some help to others in here in the future! (When I
- figure out how to use this posting thing!)
-
- Take it easy, and hope to hear from all of you soon
- I can be reached at maveryck@escape.ca
- http://www.escape.ca/~maveryck soon to be http://www.maveryck.ictr.com I
- think ;) hehe
-
- Hope I didn't bore you all to death with my life story ;P
